Turner Has Himself A Day In Mets Win

The Mets won their third straight series, beating the Astros 7-4.

  • Chris Capuano went five innings, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking three.  Capuano finally got some run support, and improved his record to 3-4.

  • Justin Turner went 2-4 with five RBIs and his first Major League home run. Not too shabby.  Assuming he can keep this up, Daniel Murphy may find himself out of a job when Ike Davis returns.

  • Jason Pridie had an RBI single in the fourth, and later stole home during David Wright's at-bat.

  • Daniel Murphy appeared to walk on three balls, and without argument from the Astros bench. Word is that Houston starter, Aneury Rodriguez, went to his mouth drawing that fourth ball.

  • Francisco Rodriguez pitched a 1-2-3 inning to record his 12th save of the season for the Mets.

Next up: The Mets head home to take on the Marlins. Mike Pelfrey will face Josh Johnson. Game time is 7:10 p.m.
