R.A. Dickey Is Back! Mets Take Game One Of Subway Series

The Mets took game one of the Subway Series, beating the Yankees by a score of 2-1.

  • R.A. Dickey went six innings, giving up one run on four hits, while striking out six and walking three. Dickey's knuckleball was finally working for him, and he was able to get his first win since April 3. He got into trouble in the second inning, giving up a lead-off double to Alex Rodriguez, walking Jorge Posada, and hitting Nick Swisher. Despite all of that, Dickey was able to get through the inning unscathed.
  • The only run Dickey allowed came in the third on a solo home run off the bat of Mark Teixeira.
  • Justin Turner did it again. For the sixth consecutive game, Turner had an RBI, which in this case was a double down the right field line to bring home Fernando Martinez.
  • Daniel Murphy drove in the go-ahead run for the Mets in the sixth inning, hitting a solo shot to right field.
  • The bullpen was perfect tonight. Mike O'Connor, Jason Isringhausen, and Francisco Rodriguez tossed a combined three scoreless innings of relief.

Next up: The Mets send Chris Capuano to the mound to face A.J. Burnett and the Yankees in game two of the Subway Series. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
